The Candle Collector

I saw this young girl in Dhaka Bangladesh in 2022. She was with her parents and I was struck by the purity of her joy and innocence. This was a contrast to the many experiences that I had had in war torn countries where desperation and fear choked the people there. I wanted to create a painting that would show that despite all the terror that war brings the strongest light is shone by hope and that inherently people are born good. The strength of the love, compassion and empathy within this little girl is more powerful than any bomb.
