The Making of Violet and Blue Silence
The two figures are a homeless couple living on the streets of New York. When painting this image the most important thing was to feel the emotional connection between the couple. These emotions are emotions that impact like a hammer. I wanted to create a background which would not dilute these emotions in any way. I chose dark blue and Violet as colours that would cool and calm the image and produce an image trapped in time. I added the word “Home” on the pile of cardboard that the man was sat on as of course this makeshift bed was their home amongst all the panic and chaos around them.
