I met David on the streets of Southampton in the spring of 2021. David is an extremely warm, kind and caring guy full of hope yet after getting to know David I realised the pain and trauma that he had suffered . I wanted to create a painting that showed David’s joy and hope as he decides to live in the moment watching the world float by like the bubbles floating around him in the painting, yet if you look closely into David’s eyes you can see the sadness and fear.

David’s hope and his kindness are an inspiration to me.
