Original Oil Painting
Oil On Canvas
77cm X 52cm
“I wanted to paint an oil painting that follows on from my painting “The Scramble For Africa”. The boy in the painting is smiling and dancing as he celebrates the end of colonialism and imperialism. The countries of the west have ended their plunder, a plunder that has gone on for centuries leaving the children of Africa poor. In the painting Africa is now free and in control of its destiny, the future is bright.
I painted the child in a realism style focusing on as much detail as possible and I created a dream like background that sees the chessboard of power and the fall of the chess pieces Colonialism and Imperialism. This is a painting of Hope.
