This museum-quality, signed limited edition print beautifully preserves the intense emotion, unforgettable detail, and meticulous brushwork of James Earley’s original hyperrealism canvas. Featured in the artist’s War & Conflict Series, Dollars And Oil Steal Life stands as a profound battleground of emotion, addressing the devastating, often hidden human costs of war and imperialism.
The portrait captures the striking beauty and innocence of childhood alongside a young boy who is visibly tired and traumatised by conflict. Behind his unforgettable, detail-packed eyes—which are rendered to grab hold of the viewer and never let go—hums a quiet background of text and symbols pointing directly to the geopolitical drivers of war: money and oil.
Crucially, the artwork shines a necessary light on the invisible destruction caused by economic sanctions. It directly references the harrowing historical moment when US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright was asked about the estimated half a million Iraqi children who lost their lives due to UN sanctions, answering that “the price is worth it.” Earley’s work stands as a defiant refusal to accept that stance, using the paintbrush as a weapon to demand empathy and ensure these children are never forgotten.
Exclusively available in a strictly limited run, each premium print is individually numbered and hand-signed by the artist, offering collectors a thought-provoking piece of fine art that refuses to look away from the harder truths of our world.
